Our Process

Our Process: From Concept to Flawless Execution

At K&R Stucco, we believe that an extraordinary finish requires more than just premium materials—it requires meticulous planning, technical expertise, and clear communication. Commissioning a bespoke architectural surface is a highly specialized service, and we have refined our workflow to ensure the experience is as seamless and stress-free as the final result.

Whether we are transforming a residential bathroom with waterproof microcement or executing a large-scale commercial installation in the city centre, here is exactly how we bring your vision to life.

1

Initial Discovery & Consultation

Understanding your vision and aesthetic goals

Every project begins with a conversation. We discuss your design brief, aesthetic preferences, and the functional requirements of the space. Whether you have a fully rendered architectural plan or just a few inspiration photos, we help you navigate our range of finishes—from breathable limewash to high-gloss polished stucco—to find the perfect match for your lifestyle or brand.

2

Site Survey & Substrate Assessment

Evaluating the technical requirements of the space

A flawless finish relies entirely on a sound foundation. For local projects, we conduct a comprehensive site visit to measure the space and meticulously assess the existing substrates (e.g., plasterboard, existing tiles, or brickwork). We identify any necessary preparatory work, evaluate the natural lighting, and discuss project logistics to ensure we provide a fully transparent, fixed-price quotation with no hidden surprises.

3

Bespoke Sampling & Color Matching

Crafting physical samples tailored to your lighting

We do not expect you to choose your final finish from a digital screen or a tiny color chart. Once the project is agreed upon, we create large, bespoke physical sample boards using the exact pigments, aggregates, and techniques planned for your installation. This allows you to experience the tactile nature of the finish and see exactly how it interacts with the specific lighting in your own space before we begin.

4

Preparation & Site Protection

Respecting your home or commercial environment

We treat your property with the utmost respect. Before opening a single tub of plaster, we implement rigorous site protection. We mask off all adjacent surfaces, lay down heavy-duty floor protection, and maintain a clean, organized workspace. We then execute any necessary substrate preparation—such as applying specialized quartz primers or fiberglass mesh—to guarantee the longevity and stability of the finish.

5

The Artisanal Application

Multi-layered hand-troweling and burnishing

This is where the artistry happens. Depending on the chosen finish, the application involves meticulously hand-troweling multiple layers of plaster or microcement over several days. We manage the delicate balance of curing times, humidity, and compression, using specialized tools to tease out the natural movement of Marmorino, the rugged pitting of Travertine, or the glass-like shine of Stucco Veneziano.

6

Finishing, Sealing & Handover

Locking in the final look and protecting the surface

The final stage is applying the appropriate protective treatments. This might involve burnishing a natural beeswax into a polished stucco wall for water resistance, or applying high-performance polyurethane sealers to render a microcement wet room 100% waterproof. Once complete, we perform a thorough cleanup, remove all masking, and conduct a final walkthrough with you to ensure the installation exceeds your expectations.
